When you attend a night at the Grand Ole Opry, you truly never know who might show up in the famed circle to sing you a few songs.
During a recent night, fans were treated to performances by two powerhouse names, Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks. Vince Gill introduced Trisha who greeted the crowd by apologizing for not having her band with her to back her up. She said she brought the best guitar player she could find on short notice– Mr. Garth Brooks.
Mrs. and Mr. Yearwood (as Garth likes to say) played Trisha’s big-time hit, “She’s In Love With the Boy,” before launching into several of their favorite classic duets, including Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn’s “After the Fire is Gone,” Jim Ed Brown and Helen Cornelius’ “I Don’t Want to Have to Marry You,” and George Jones and Tammy Wynette’s “Golden Ring.”
Supposedly, the two only rehearsed on the way over, but no grumblings from the audience were heard.
